In March, Dr. Raynor and Mr. Maggio led a boarding trip to Athens. We visited the major sites, such as the Parthenon and the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, and Monastiraki, which was the Agora. We ate at some delicious restaurants, where local food was prepared, and after that, we even had some delicious souvlaki. During the day, we had some free time to explore the city on our own. We were surprised to find many different shops, such as American Eagle, Starbucks, a bubble tea store, and many more sweets shops. We wandered past Hadrian’s Library, but were unable to enter because we hadn’t bought tickets. However, we still took pictures from the outside! We walked through the Agora, which is still a bustling market today – selling everything from antiques to souvenirs for tourists. We also passed by a meat and fish market, where fresh products are sold every day. They sold fruits and vegetables as well. There were many stores with clothing and records from the old days, with goth clothing original from concerts too. Athens had many different fresh juice shops as well, something which seems to be a new trend there.
